Preggie Pops Review and Giveaway

Preggie Pop Review
I tried my first sample of preggie pops by accident. I received a lollipop from a booth at the womens expo(which happened to be the Elegant Mommy booth, but that was before there was even a brick and mortar store and long before I worked here). While eating the lollipop, I was reading the material that came with it and realized it was for morning sickness. Several month later, when I was actually experiencing "morning" sickness from pregnancy, I remembered that sucker and decided I should give that a try. One day at work I was talking about how I needed to go get some to try and one of the other gals, who happened to be a few weeks further in her pregnancy than I was came in with samples for me.

Having something to suck on really helped with my nausea. I wasn't a huge fan of the sour flavors at first, but they grew on me. I did really enjoy the Lavender and Mint flavors. Personally I enjoyed the drops (hard candy) rather than the pops (lollipops/sucker) because of the stick.

This product did not take away my "morning sickness" completely, but it did help curb my nausea when I couldn't get something to eat right away. They were also a must for car trips. Along with pregnancy I got motion sickness.

If you are in the early stages of pregnancy (or know someone who is) I recommend trying preggie pops.

How to make your own bubble solution

How To Tuesday

Now that summer is officially here I thought I would post a "How To Tuesday" to do with your little ones, how to make your own bubbles.

I have done some experimenting and have found this recipe works the best for me:

1/2 Cup dish-washing soap (I prefer Dawn, but Joy works great too)
2 Cups Water (distilled works the best)
2 teaspoons sugar or karo syrup

First step is to dissolve the sugar into the water, then add the dish-washing soap.

The secret to these awesome bubbles is the sugar, it helps hold the bubbles together.

Hope you enjoy! Have a great summer!

Do you have any other bubble recipes? Or any great summer recipes? Please share!

How to Swaddle

Here is a great picture-tutorial on how to swaddle your baby from Bambino Land.

Enter to win your own bambino land swaddle blanket, see our giveaway.

Bambino Land Review and Giveaway!

Of all of the advice I got when my daughter was born, learning to swaddle her was in the top five! She loved being cuddled and as a winter baby, she it really helped keep her warm. Think about it, your little one has had limited room for the last 9 months, they like that close bundled feeling.

Finding a good swaddle blanket is a must. Bambino Land makes great, thin, light weight swaddle blankets. These blankets are made of organic cotton which gets softer with every wash.

Now that summer is upon us (at least it finally feels like it today), these blankets are great for summer babes!  I saw someone using it as a sun shield over their infant car seat at the pool. If you are expecting a baby soon, or know someone that is, you should check out these blankets. We have a wide variety available at Elegant Mommy.

Little House on the Prairie, The Musical

When you were growing up, did you dream of riding horses on the prairie and helping Pa farm? I know I did. I LOVED the Little House books. When I was in high school I was a counselor at "Little Camp on the Prairie" where we learned all about Laura and Mary. It was great to see them come to life on stage tonight.

Over the course of 2 1/2 hours I watched Laura grow from a little girl running wild and free, to a woman venturing off with her new husband. Laura and her family had many adventures moving to the Dakota Territories, which we saw unfold in the musical. I personally enjoyed the school house scenes. Laura's nemesis, Nellie Oleson, had the audience rolling in laughter during a few scenes.

The children in the audience we glued to the stage during the horse races and the 4th of July scenes. During intermission I heard a few girls discussing whether Almanzo was the Mr. Wilder that Laura married or not, cause they hadn't read that in the books yet.

If you have a little one that is old enough to read and enjoy the books, I think she would also enjoy this musical.

There are 6 performances left at the Washington Pavillion, click here to purchase tickets. They start at $32, but if you are lucky maybe you can find someone that has already gone, because they were handing out "come again" coupons for $25 tickets.

You can also check out the Little House on the Prairie The Musical website.
